School Meals

As of September 2014 all infant children are entitled to a free school meal. We would like everyone to take advantage of this excellent initiative. School food has to meet high nutritional standards which guarantee children a healthy, balanced menu. School meals contribute to the development of good food habits and eating a healthy balanced diet from an early age is critical for growth, development and engagement with healthier food. It is also a social occasion for the children as they are able to sit and chat with their friends. Good manners are reinforced as those children who demonstrate them are chosen to sit at the restaurant table with flowers and serviettes! They also take a certificate home. Children who eat a healthy meal at lunchtimes are also more able to concentrate on their learning in the afternoon.

Our school lunches are provided by the Beacon School. We work with them to provide a nutritious, balanced meal using the best ingredients possible. Menu Summer 2017

We encourage all children to have a school lunch as we believe it gives the children the opportunity to:

  • Develop tastes for different foods
  • Have the confidence to make choices
  • Take part in fun initiatives that encourage children to think about diet and lifestyles

We administer the school milk provided to the children through a scheme called ‘Cool Milk at School’ (CMAS). This scheme is in partnership with Surrey County Council.
The Cool milk scheme has proved to be very successful in over 35 Local Education Authorities and we hope that you will take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to encourage your child to drink milk as part of their healthy diet.
In order to receive school milk, all you need to do is complete a registration form and return it to : Cool Milk at School – registrations, P O Box 994, Lincoln LN5 5GS or register and pay on-line at www.coolmilk.com. All queries and payments should be direct to Cool Milk (0800-321-3248).
