Welcome to Yellow Class!
We have been learning about The Great Fire of London! We acted out the story and wrote letters pretending we were a different person. A baker called Thomas Farynor started the fire because he left the oven door open and some sparks flickered and set fire to straw and bundles of sticks. We also made pictures of the fire using paint as a colourwash and pastels for the detail. You can find out more by clicking here. We made models of houses and then..... we burnt them!!! We also learned about Vincent Van Gogh and looked carefully at his paintings of sunflowers. Then we painted our own sunflowers using paint thickened with salt and flour to show the texture. We also made clay sunflowers and sunflowers with real seeds.
We looked at other paintings by Van Gogh and copied parts of them. We used little strokes to make beautiful pictures!
We learned about the work of Andy Goldsworthy and then made some pictures using natural materials that we found in the woodland walk and the garden. Will and Daniel made the pictures into a Power Point presentation. You can watch it by clicking here.
